Packaging
I have learned that packaging has a significant impact on a consumer's first impression of a product. While it may not seem as exciting as designing a plastic part, I was able to learn a lot of new things by being involved in product packaging.

Packaging Responsibilities
I have worked on packaging for several Cricut products. This involved working closely with a packaging design firm in order to communicate critical areas on the machine that needed protection and review the design. Through this process I was able to learn a lot about different packaging materials such as kraft corrugate, EPP foam, PET thermoformed trays, EVA foam, polybags, desiccant sizing and living hinges on PP corru-clips.
With all these different materials I have worked closely with complain to understand certain foams that do not meet environmental compliance and worked to find alternative solutions.
In addition to helping with the packaging design, I was responsible for reviewing drop test data and helping determine pass fail criteria based on the ISTA 3A drop testing procedure. I also helped define and review compression testing to ensure that the packaging could handle container shipment and warehouse storage stacking requirements per the ISTA 2A standard.
Lastly I coordinated efforts with the creative team to provide die lines for artwork generation and provide vendor DFM feedback regarding artwork issues.
